Human Relationships in a Dystopian World - A Conversation with Brooke Fast

In this conversation, Brooke Fast explores how complex relationships  unfold in dystopian storytelling. Using Rabmadár as an example, the  discussion will look at how characters navigate loyalty, love, and difficult  choices while facing a dangerous and action-filled world.

The conversation will be moderated by Viki László.

Blackout Poetry Workshop with Beni Bánki

How can a poem be created from an existing text? In blackout poetry, participants work with newspaper articles, book excerpts, or other texts by crossing out most of the words and leaving only those that eventually form a new poem.

The process is both creative and liberating: instead of starting with a blank page, participants discover hidden poetry within existing texts. The method also highlights a fundamental aspect of poetry – that poems are often born from omission, silence, and condensation.

During the workshop, participants will create their own blackout poems, which can also be enhanced with drawings and visual elements, bringing a visual dimension to the text.

The workshop will be led by Beni Bánki.

Text Mix with Beni Bánki – When Poems and Song Lyrics Meet

What happens when a classic Hungarian poem and a contemporary song lyric get mixed together? At the Szövegmix workshop, we’ll try it out together.

Participants will work individually or in small teams and receive a pair: a well-known classic poem and a modern song lyric. The task is to create a new, shared text from them—by cutting, mixing, and rearranging the lines.

This way, for example, Arany János might meet Halott Pénz, József Attila might meet VALMAR, or Pilinszky might meet Manuel. The styles are different, but that’s exactly what makes the game exciting: when the voices blend, the result is often surprisingly effective, humorous, or filled with entirely new meanings.

At the beginning of the workshop, we’ll briefly explain the task—then the creative work can begin. At the end of the session, we’ll listen to the finished pieces together, and of course there will be applause, applause, applause for every new “literary remix.” 🎤📚

As a guest performer at the Dumaszínház, he talks about the absurd and humorous events of everyday life—just as he does in his debut novel, In the Long Shadow of Mrs. Fillenbaum, which has just been published. In his interactive literary stand-up performance, he will candidly share stories about writing books and screenplays, about rewriting again and again, and about the lessons learned along the way. Dark Romantasy and Mental Health – A Conversation with Adèle Dan

Dark romantasy stories often explore intense emotions, difficult choices, and the darker sides of human nature. But how do these themes connect to real-life experiences and conversations about mental health? In this discussion, Adèle Dan talks about the themes present in dark romantasy, the emotional depth of the genre, and how stories can open space for talking about mental well-being. The conversation will also explore how readers connect with complex characters and why darker narratives can resonate so strongly with audiences today. Enemies to Lovers and Complex Characters - A Conversation with Kristen Ciccarelli

Enemies-to-lovers relationships often create intense dynamics and  compelling conflicts within a story. Beyond the romantic tension, however,  this trope also offers a powerful opportunity to explore deeper, more  nuanced characters.

In this conversation, Kristen Ciccarelli discusses how this dynamic can  reveal the inner worlds of characters—their flaws, dilemmas, and personal  growth. Using Heartless Hunter as an example, the discussion will explore  how such storytelling allows characters to feel layered, conflicted, and  vividly alive.

The conversation will be moderated by Viki László.
